Move Me

Move Me
I begged of this thing even welcomed the regret
Almost made it to the end til i needed to forget
I brushed against relief
Fumbled toward content
Made it halfway down the mountain
Til I wondered what it meant
Did it mean the rain was waiting did it mean the sun was lost
And as I was hesitating never thinking of the cost
Haven’t I been here before
Haven't I wandered down this path
Didn’t I see this place somewhere
In a faded photograph
Move me
If you wait for some resistance than you’ll find it in your mind
If you think about tomorrow you’ll leave yesterday behind
And the trouble with believing in the possibilities
Is its possible they’ll find you
Crawling on your knees
And the virtues that you carry
Like a heart upon your sleeve
Become exactly what you never could believe
If you say that you are sorry and you ought to get some rest
And you want to lay your head down trying to stand up to some test
Then the love that you’ve been looking for
Will greet you with a smile
Sit down on a park bench and watch you for awhile
Move me

We're Beautiful
05:06
|

We’re Beautiful
You change your clothes you change your appetite
That kind of stuff will keep you up at night
You’re feeling good, you’re feeling alright
And you are you are
Make your check payable to city hall
If you’re not careful they could take it all
Toil through summer just to get to Fall
And you do you do
Oh and the morning feels like gold
And all the stories you’ve been told
Begin to weigh upon your soul
Time doesn’t live here anymore
I think I’ve heard it all before
We live our lives as if we’re beautiful
The evidence is irrefutable
We find a melody that’s suitable
And we do, we do
Sitting underneath the willow tree
So little evidence of you and me
Still this is where i want to be
So i am i am
Oh and the morning feels like gold
And all the stories you’ve been told
Begin to weigh upon your soul
Time doesn’t live here anymore
I think I’ve heard it all before
You know when you know it
And you see when you see it
You can’t understand it
Nobody wants you to feel it
When you’re deep underneath it
And you think you can sense it
You’re going nowhere and you’re going fast
No one knows how long this will last
And suddenly another day just past
And you try, you try
You change your address and you change your hair
Convince yourself that anyone will care
You take a deep breath of day old air
And you’re gone, you’re gone

Chicago

|

The wind is blowing down the alley
And I can’t hear myself think
Fires in Silicon Valley
Feels like the world is on the brink
I lay my sword down on the altar
The pen is mightier but its out of ink
Can’t keep my ducks from wanderin’
Can’t keep my head on straight
All of the good will that I am squanderin’
Feels like a simple twist of fate
Drove too far and I drove too fast
And now this car is outta gas
I put my arms you
I keep the wolves at bay
They say we’re bound to break through
And it’ll happen now any day
I can’t stay long here in Chicago
You know I have to be on my way.

Little Dinosaur
04:44
|

Find your little dinosaur
It’s time to hit the road
She doesn’t live here anymore
So we’re gonna have to drive back home
We begged her not to fly away
We thought we’d found a truce
We tied the rope around the fence
But left the knot too loose
You have to admit it felt pretty good
To head back to the coast
We thought we might, we knew we could
And that’s what hurt the most
I never will forget those days
I hope you know that’s true
The supermarkets and cafes
As we were passing through
I mailed the check before we left
So the rent is paid through June
We might be in Tennessee
Some time this afternoon
If you look under the seat
I think you’ll find a map
I might need you to drive tonight
So you should take a nap
And if you miss the scenery
I’ll tell you what I saw
All the way from Memphis
To deep in Arkansas
And every time I hear a song
I think that you might like
I’ll tap you on the shoulder
Just in case I’m right
If you need to get some air
I’ll be waiting here
We’ve got lots of time to spare
And the weather’s looking clear
And just before we wave goodbye
To find our different roads
I want to say I wish you’d stay
As the universe explodes
And right before the sun came up
And shown upon your face
A ghostly thought went through my head
That this might be the place
We’ll keep driving to the west
To change our clothes and rest our bones
We’ll get by on summer sky
And makeshift overtones

Josephine

Did you hear stories of Italy like I hear stories of you
On this day 100 years ago when the world was brand new
I feel you in my thoughts at night when i am alone
In a warm summer breeze or a flower growing through a storm
I follow you down the avenue
Walk up your flight of stairs
If you could see what i see now
you ‘d fly away your cares
Oh Josephine
Riding on your motorcycle
And all the days in between
Sunset in your eyes
The pine trees touch the misty sky the summer has no name
I’m gonna sit here and wait for night to come I bet you’d do the same
I was 40 years when i wrote this song I’ll be 41 years soon
Saw my face once in a photography which said 1952
I can hear the thoughts of strangers
I can hear a robin’s tune
I can hear the random passing
Of a Tuesday afternoon
Oh Josephine
Riding on your motorcycle
And all the days in between
Sunset in your eyes
Put your hand in my hands put your arm in my arm
Somewhere far across the universe I can keep you safe from harm
If I’m not here are you still here
If i fall asleep do you disappear
If i don’t wait do you fall behind
Are you still good if i become unkind
Oh Josephine
Riding on your motorcycle
And all the days in between
Sunset in your eyes
Oh Josephine
Quietly smiling and winking at me
Earth and sky in the sweet by and by
Taking turns dancing with the sea

Almanac

Standing in the background holding my emotions
It's a miracle I found you you were feeling kind of broken
And all that you remember iIs everything you never knew
You opened up the ceiling standing next to strangers
We knew what you were feeling and talked of making changes
The hole inside your heart felt just a little smaller now
I stepped outside and saw the sky turning red
For the first time in history, they’re listening to what you’ve said
Remember what they taught us gospel of forgiveness
Sirens surround us power to the powerless
We’re holding it together but no one knows how long we’ll last
Looking down from someplace high above the earth
Trading sanity for everything you’re worth
Standing in the background holding my emotions
It's a miracle I found you you were feeling kind of broken
And all that you remember iIs everything you never knew

A Fake James Bond
04:11
|
|||
What’s the meaning of this dream you had
And what’s a boy like me to do
I feel there’s a moral to this story
But what I really want to know is
What's So Funny 'Bout a Fake James Bond?
When the world is spinning off the shelf
And no one wants to take the blame
There’s no time to worry
I’m just busy taking care of myself so
What's So Funny 'Bout a Fake James Bond?
He’s not jumping off of buildings he’s not in a fancy car
He’s not talking to a girl or sitting at the bar
And he’s actually quite handsome if you’re looking from afar
With his cuff links and his cologne you might mistake him for a star
What’s the point of what we’re saying
No one listens anymore
I've got my sleeves rolled up
But nothing’s coming my way so
What's So Funny 'Bout a Fake James Bond?
Everyone’s looking for someone to take the fall
The hero’s doomed from the first call
No knee jerk reaction just some kind of action so
What's So Funny 'Bout a Fake James Bond?
He’s not jumping off of buildings he’s not in a fancy car
He’s not talking to a girl or sitting at the bar
And he’s actually quite handsome if you’re looking from afar
With his cuff links and his cologne you might mistake him for a star

She came down from the mountain
She came down she came down
And all the birds in the heavens
Made a joyful sound
She carried truth and beauty
In her hand her sweet hand
And all the bells did ring
Across the land the sweet land
And the hope she carried was met with tears
For doubt had shrouded them for years
Bring all your troubles to the river
She said she said
Take your worries and your sadness
Give ‘em to me instead
We belong to the mountain
We belong to the sea
Take care of each other
Take care of me
And this day was remembered by young and old
And this tale shall be forever told
From the fields and the forests
To the cities and the towns
From the moon that’s rising
To the sun that’s going down
From today ‘til tomorrow
As the four winds blow
She came down from the mountain
So we’d know so we’d know
She came down from the mountain
She came down she came down
And all the birds in the heavens
Made a joyful sound

I speak in circumstance I try to hide my mind
I never learned to dance and so i never tried
The more i talk about it
The less I know I never try to find it
But i can’t let go
I’m going back to that place i left behind
I’m gonna try and make things better this time
She sat me down and held me close as she spoke
It calmed my nerves it calmed my restlessness and so
I learned to fight this fever I learned to cool my head
I learned to reconnect the lost and often broken threads
As I search I trace my movements
Through the rain
I try to tell the difference
But it all feels the same
I didn’t mean to scare the child in my past
I told him he shouldn’t try to run so fast
And then i realized he didn’t want to be alone
Trying in vain to find a reason to go home
This is what we do to horses she said as I laughed
The differences between us are significant and vast
I speak in circumstance there isn’t much to say
I find it's easier to dance this way.

Leave the lights on for the lonely
Burn a fire for the weak
Tend to your own wounds baby
Mine just need some sleep
Follow me down 7th street and meet me by the park
Look me up and look me down
And pull me through the dark
Put some quarters in the jukebox
And dance with me awhile
I feel hurricanes inside my veins
When you turn my way and smile
The sleepless boys of San Francisco
Build castles in the sand
The magic ladies seem to know
The cracks and lines inside your hand
The moonlight drifts across the night
And fades into the mist
The ever-changing punchline
You need that and I need this
Put some quarters in the jukebox
And dance with me awhile
I feel hurricanes inside my veins
When you turn my way and smile
So put your arms around me and tell me its ok
I’ve got better things to do girl
But nothing else to do today
There’s worry and there’s wisdom
And something between
Recollect and you protect the fancy fallen cosmic queen
Rooftops sag in summer stench
And August crawls on by
Put some quarters in the jukebox
And dance with me awhile
I feel hurricanes inside my veins
When you turn my way and smile

The Origin of Endings
04:56
|
|||
Change is gonna come
From this I know
Somewhere down the line you’ll see
Cyclones on the ceiling
And the wind at our backs
They’re never gonna let it be
And I won’t wait another minute or two
There’s a lot of work to do
Open up the skyline
And tear it in two
One for me and one for you
It powered up the people
Who were dragging in the mud
It turned the sky to ash and blood
The road began to wind
And heads did spin
It furiously did begin
When I look at the world outside
It's too late to run
It's too late to hide your eyes
Or change your mind
If you find what you could not here
Maybe you can reach inside your life
And time will fall
I know where we’re going
And I know where we’ve been
But where are we right now
The origins of endings
Where no one can win
It’s open for discussion anyhow

Tracy died soon after a long fought civil war
Just after I'd wiped away his last tear
I guess he's better off than he was before
A whole lot better off than the fools he left here
I used to cry for Tracy 'cause he was my only friend
Those kind of cars don't pass u every day
I used to cry for Tracy because I wanted to see him again
But sometimes, sometimes life ain't always the way
Sometimes it snows in April
Sometimes I feel so bad, so bad
Sometimes I wish that life was never ending
And all good things, they say, never last
Springtime was always my favorite time of year
A time for lovers holding hands in the rain
Now springtime only reminds me of Tracy's tears
Always cry for love, never cry for pain
He used to say so strong, unafraid to die
Unafraid of the death that left me
Hypnotized
No, staring at his picture I realized
No one could cry the way my Tracy cried
Sometimes it snows in April
Sometimes I feel so bad
Sometimes, sometimes I wish that life was never ending
But all good things, they say, never last
I often dream of heaven and I know that Tracy's there
I know that he has found another friend
Maybe he's found the answer to all the April snow
Maybe one day I'll see my Tracy again
Sometimes it snows in April
Sometimes I feel so bad
So bad
Sometimes I wish that life was never ending
But all good things, they say, never last
But all good things they say, never last
And love, it isn't love until it's past
